Program Overview:

The Humani-mentors program is a mentoring program launched by the Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere. This program pairs undergraduate students interested in the humanities with graduate students to meet their mentoring needs. Students who are part of this program are given the opportunity to build their professional network and achieve their academic goals.

Mission:

The goals of the program are:

  • To provide undergraduate students with a vision of scholarly engagement beyond the classroom
  • To experience the humanities as part of their lives
  • To attend events jointly and talk about their cultural significance
  • To discuss course work, professional aspirations, and scholarly development
  • For mentors to explain research processes, such as writing articles and attending conferences
  • For mentors to give feedback on balancing workloads, being a student, and coping strategies for stressful periods and situation
  • To establish a potentially longtime relationship of personal support
