On April 10th you are invited to the screening of “Redneck Muslim” and an engaging discussion with Dr. Zoharah Simmons on race and Islam in the United States.  This event will take place in the second floor of Anderson Hall in the Political Science Conference room.

“Redneck Muslim” is a short film that serves as a discussion on whiteness, Islam, and race in the American South.  Following Imam Shane Atkinson, a white convert from rural Mississippi, “Redneck Muslim” undertakes the challenge of telling a uniquely Southern, uniquely Muslim story.  A discussion about the intersections of Islam and race in the United States with Dr. Zoharah Simmons will follow the screening.
