Constructing Communities: Exploring Access through Education and Art – Building Collaborative Spaces: Learning from Crip Communities

December 19, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Learn through practice (or just hang out) with stellar artists Sky Cubacub (Radical Visibility Zine, Rebirth Garments) and Ashanti Fortson (cartoonist and illustrator, CRESS & PETRA forth.) during a collaborative zine workshop! Panelists will discuss art, identity, and community building followed by Q&A. All participants are invited to make a zine along with the panelists–so please bring any kind of writing instrument and any kind of paper that you want to use! Break-out rooms for quieter workspace or sharing with fellow attendees will also be available.
Check out the artists’ websites:

Ashanti Fortson: https://ashantifortson.com/
All are welcome!
ASL interpreters will be present at both events, with Live Transcription services also available through Otter.ai. Please let us know of any other access needs for attending this event in the registration form!
This event series was organized as part of Dr. Delia Steverson’s graduate seminar on Critical Disability Studies. We thank our sponsors: the University of Florida’s Disability Resource Center, English Department, and Center for Humanities and the Public Sphere.
