Queen Quet visits UF

Queen Quet, Chieftess and Head of State of the Gullah/Geechee Nation, will be speaking at UF Tuesday 25 September at 7:30 pm in the Chemistry Lab (room C130).

Queen Quet is a celebrated author, preservationist, mathematician, historian, and art-ivist.  Since 1999, she has represented her people at numerous UN conferences including the Oceans Conference, the Minority Forum, the Indigenous Peoples Forum, and COP22. As a part of the “Save the Sea Islands World Tour“, Queen Quet will be speaking on topics pertaining to race, environment, and cultural capital. The speech will take place the week following her presentation at the Global Climate Action Summit 2018 and just before her return address at the United Nations.

The event will accommodate extra credit sign-in sheets.

The event is free and open to the public.
