President’s Arts and Humanities Luncheon: Andrew Cao

Andrew Cao, Lecturer at the UF School of Theatre + Dance, will speak about musicals.  This event is Free and open to any UF student, but

Andrew danced on Broadway in Disney’s Aladdin, the 2011 revival of Anything Goes with Sutton Foster, and Nice Work if You Can Get It, spanning almost 10 years and thousands of performances.  Regionally, he played “Bernardo” in West Side Story at The Stratford Shakespeare Festival and other principle roles at some of the country’s most prestigious regional theatres, like The Old Globe, The Goodspeed Opera House, PCLO, and The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey.  In addition, Andrew appeared on television in The Mysteries of Laura, Blue Bloods, The Detour, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tony Awards, The View, Good Morning America, and Nickelodeon’s The Backyardigans.  He shot national network commercials and international print campaigns for clients like PNC Bank, Huggies, Baby Jogger, Vanguard, and Cheerios.

As an educator, Andrew has almost 20 years of professional experience teaching theatre, dance, and “the business” to over 25,000 students of all ages and abilities from all over the world. In New York, he has designed and taught hundreds of classes and masterclasses for Broadway Dance Center, Broadway Classroom, Broadway Workshop, Stage Door Connections, among others.  Andrew has also been a guest teacher and choreographer at The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Nebraska Wesleyan University and Colby College in Maine.
