UF Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures and the Japan Foundation

The 14th Annual Japan Foundation Film Series is sponsored by the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures and the Japan Foundation. All films will be shown in Pugh 170, and start at 5:10 pm. The films are free and open to the public. In Japanese, with English subtitles.

The first film, “Oyster Factory” (牡蠣工場 Kaki kōba) will be shown on 21 September 21. Directed by Kazuhiro Soda (2015) the film runs for 145 minutes and is a documentary depicting the world of fishermen and workers in the fresh oyster business as they face inevitable changes brought by depopulation and globalization.
