Opening Night: We are Proud to Present
September 19, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$14 – $20A group of actors—three black and three white—gather to recall the Herero and Namaqua genocide, a largely forgotten, but traumatic chapter in African history. Written by the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama winner, Jackie Sibblies Drury, this play follows their attempt to reenact the extermination of the Herero tribe at the hands of their German colonizers. As the group tackles this remote story, the horrific nature of the past collides with the well-intentioned present and the actors realize that what once seemed like distant history hits close to home. Tensions mount as they expose more of themselves than they ever wanted to.
