“Home Away from Home: Remembering Refugees in Florida”

September 20, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Seyeon Hwang, a doctoral student at UF, will present her oral history interviews with refugees resettled in Jacksonville and moderate a discussion with a panel of refugees based in Jacksonville and Miami.

The program will also highlight national efforts for refugee advocacy in celebration of the Welcoming Week (Sep. 14-23), an event designated to bring communities together to raise awareness of the benefits of welcoming immigrants, refugees, and native-born residents in American cities by a non-profit, non-partisan organization, Welcoming America. This event is supported by the Florida Humanities Council.
