Haitian Creole in Higher Ed.-Speaker: Lerby Exantus M.D. – Ultrasound Master Trainer for Caris Foundation

February 12, 2021 @ 3:00 pm

This spring a virtual group, Haitian Creole in Higher Education Conversation Club, is beginning a 10-week pilot initiative. Once a week, Haitian Creole speakers in higher education will meet for one hour. Every week a different speaker from a different type of initiative in Haiti will speak for 20-25 minutes in Haitian Creole about their program, followed by a 10-minute question and answer period. Speakers will be from all areas including non-profits, businesses, research and various other sectors. The second half of the meeting will be a friendly conversation among the group participants. The group welcomes anyone with an interest in speaking Haitian Creole. Please contact Amanda Brinton at ab86@ufl.edu with any questions.

In addition to being an M.D. and Master Trainer for the Caris Foundation, Dr. Exantus is also a member of NYAGI (Now You Are the Group Interest), a non-profit organization focused on bringing ultrasound teaching to low income countries with an emphasis on maternal health. Dr. Exantus is now part of the team that is teaching local providers how to make a difference using the equipment.
