Fall Kickoff for the Humanities Engagement Scholars Program

September 5, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Are you interested in the humanities beyond your major? Do you enjoy attending events about the humanities at UF and in the community? Do you like to talk about the human condition and our place in the world and in the cosmos?

If your answer is yes, the new Humanities Engagement Scholars program might be right for you.

The program is open to undergraduate students from all majors as well as undecided, exploratory, and transfer students. Students may join at any point in their undergraduate careers, so long as they have at least two semesters remaining.

To find out more and apply, please visit: https://humanities.ufl.edu/humanities-engagement-scholar/

Here are the guidelines:

In order to be designated a Humanities Engagement Scholar at graduation, undergraduates must complete and document the following requirements:

  1. 12 credits in the humanities, i.e., four humanities courses completed with a B or better in at least three humanities units (Quest 1 does not count toward the designation.)
  2. Attendance at humanities events (a minimum of two per semester and six by graduation)
  3. Active participation in the planning, preparation, and/or execution of humanities events at UF, in Gainesville, and beyond (a minimum of one per academic year and two by graduation).

You are also invited to the Fall Welcome Kickoff event!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Alexandra Cenatus, Assistant Director for Programming and Public Engagement at the Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere, at acenatus@ufl.edu
