Drawing for World Revolution

February 18, 2021 @ 6:00 pm

Dr. Maria Gough, Joseph Pulitzer, Jr. Professor of Modern Art. Department of History of Art and Architecture, Harvard University

Professor Maria Gough lectures on the work of Gustavs Klucis (1985–1938), a Latvian artist and member of the Constructivist avant-garde. Her talk focuses on the para-architectural drawings of Klucis in the 1920s, which feature new media structures for the Moscow street: radio-orators, projection screens, newspaper kiosks, and advertising stands, each combining radical aesthetics and revolutionary politics.
