Virtual Humanities Writing Support Group

May 3, 2021 - May 7, 2021

Humanities Writing Retreat

Monday-Friday, May 3-7, 2021 (UF intersession)

Daily Short Virtual Meetings

Do you want to dust off your writing project, finish your article, jump-start your grant-proposal, edit your book manuscript, or write your blog?

Would you benefit from making daily commitments and embracing accountability?

Do you love learning about the research projects of your colleagues and gain energy from creating community around the writing process?

The Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere ioffering a Virtual Humanities Writing Support Group, which will focus on the transition from teaching to writing and establishing a research and writing practice for the summer. We are continuing a successful practice from summer 2020, when a week of daily brief virtual meetings about writing practices spawned a summer of mutual research support. We hope to return to an in-person week-long Humanities Writing Retreat in May 2022.

The Virtual Humanities Writing Support Group is open to all UF faculty, staff, and graduate students with writing projects in the humanities. Availability is not limited but participants must register by April 26. Participants set goals for their own daily writing hours but they must commit to a 60-minute check-in on Monday, May 4 at 9am, and 30-minutes check-ins at 9am for the rest of the week. Participation in an additional writing buddy-system is optional. Participants must sign up in a Canvas group to receive Zoom links for the meetings.

The Virtual Writing Support Group is organized by the Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere. In order to participate, you must complete the Qualtrics poll by April 25, 2021.
