Humanities Writing Retreat
Monday-Friday, May 6-10, 2019 (UF intersession)
8:30am to 4:30pm daily
Austin Cary Forest Learning Center
The Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere offers a five-day writing retreat in the peaceful Austin Cary Forest Learning Center. Turn off your cell phones! Dust off your writing project! Finish your article! Jump-start your grant-proposal! Edit your blog! The Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere will provide lunch, snacks, and beverages for registered participants each day. A refrigerator and microwave are available for individuals with dietary restrictions.
The UF Austin Cary Forest Campus is located at 10625 NE Waldo Road, just 10 miles northeast of the main UF campus. The writing retreat will be held at the Learning Center, a beautiful building with significant natural light and wireless internet. The Austin Cary Forest also boasts several walking trails for breaks to overcome writing impasses. The space offers attendees comfortably shared tables without computers. Participants need to bring their own laptops or IPads, as well as any other materials they need to complete their work.
The writing retreat is open to all UF scholars with writing projects in the humanities (excluding syllabus development), including graduate students. Availability is on a first come, first-served basis, and all participants must attend the entire retreat. RSVP is required.
