School of Art + Art History
2016-2017 Library Enhancement Grant

Lisa Iglesias, Assistant Professor in the School of Art + Art History, received a Library Enhancement Grant to purchase new texts by and about artists of color and from under-represented communities. The new acquisitions fundamentally expand the potential of researching work by under-represented writers and artists at the Architecture and Fine Arts Library.

The addition of African-American, Latina/o, Asian, and LGBTQ voices will diversify and strengthen available resources and cultivate new research trajectories in the humanities and arts. Their critical perspectives will challenge students and faculty to reflect on the artificial disciplinary boundaries of the humanities and artistic fields such as dance, poetry, and visual arts; their voices will highlight how knowledge production is both textual and artistic. In addition, these texts will aid in the development of future graduate seminars highlighting underrepresented artists and benefit current course offerings in the School of Art + Art History.

Overall, the acquisition of these new texts help to achieve the University’s goals of diversity and inclusion, assist in the development of new courses, and benefit current research and course offerings in the School of Art + Art History and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
