Chairman Peede’s Interview with WUFT News

On 5 April 2019, the Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere welcomed Jon Parrish Peede, Chairman National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to the University of Florida as part of its Ten-Year Anniversary Celebration.

WUFT aired several segments based on an interview between their journalist Emma Bautista and Chairman Peede.

Segment One – “Celebrating the ten year anniversary of the Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere at the University of Florida, National Endowment for the Humanities Chairman Jon Peede came to Gainesville  Friday to talk about human and cultural values.  In an interview with WUFT’S Emma Bautista, he talked about the importance of outreach in the community.”

Segment Two – “Celebrating the ten year anniversary of the Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere at the University of Florida, National Endowment for the Humanities Chairman Jon Peede came to Gainesville  Friday to talk about human and cultural values.  In an interview with WUFT’S Emma Bautista, he expressed concern that many college graduates don’t know U-S history, and he emphasized the importance of a knowledgeable society.”

Segment Three – “Celebrating the ten year anniversary of the Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere at the University of Florida, National Endowment for the Humanities Chairman Jon Peede  came to Gainesville Friday to talk about human and cultural values.  In an interview with WUFT’S Emma Bautista, he said study of the humanities is not just a high brow area of academia, and there are all sorts of ways professors and students can become involved in their study.”

Segment Four – “Celebrating the ten year anniversary of the Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere at the University of Florida, National Endowment for the Humanities Chairman John Peede came to Gainesville Friday to talk about human and cultural values.  In an interview with WUFT’S Emma Bautista, he commented on how much he had learned during his trip to Gainesville.”
