Virtual Lecture: Food and Enslavement in Early America – Psyche Williams-Forson

As part of the Fire and Freedom Exhibition, please join the University of Florida Health Science Center Libraries on Thursday April 9th from 12-1 via zoom to hear Dr. Psyche Williams-Forson as she presents a talk about food and enslavement in early America. Dr. Psyche Williams-Forson is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of American Studies at the University of Maryland College Park. Her research explores the ways in which Black people (broadly defined) engage their material worlds, especially with food and food cultures as well as historical legacies of race and gender (mis)representation. Dr. Forson also helped to create the exhibition materials, including the online version, which you can explore here.
