POSTPONED – Designing Multilingual Experiences in Technical Communication

September 13, 2021 @ 12:00 pm

EVENT POSTPONDED

Globalization is increasingly important in technical communication, requiring that technical communicators work with multilingual communities. How can technical communicators work in global contexts, specifically with multilingual communities? How does language influence all the work that technical communicators do?

In this session, Dr. Laura Gonzales from the UF Department of English will answer these questions and more as she introduces her forthcoming book, Designing Multilingual Experiences in Technical Communication. This book traces Laura’s collaborations with multilingual communities in three different contexts, and presents lessons for technical communicators who want to collaboratively design tools and technologies for and with multilingual audiences in global contexts.

Dr. Laura Gonzales is an Assistant Professor of digital writing and cultural rhetorics in the Department of English at the University of Florida. She is the author of more than 30 peer-reviewed articles, books, and edited collections focused on issues of language diversity, community engagement, and technical communication.
