Graduate Assistant for Dr. Seth Bernstein, Digital Humanities

Madison is a 2nd year Linguistic Master's student with a focus on both computational linguistics and second language acquisition. She is particularly interested in the impact of neurodivergence on second language acquisition and seeks to explore how technology can support neurodivergent language learners.

Working with Dr. Bernstein and the UF KGB Lab, she analyzes linguistic trends of language used during secret police interrogations and how to improve organization and presentation of corpus data. She and the other lab members help provide high-quality annotations of secret police interrogations to be used for the development of various research tools, such as OCR models for handwritten Russian and semantic search tools. With Dr. Bernstein, she is also presently compiling and analyzing the ASEEES Corpus, a collection of all the titles of works and roundtables held at the Association for the Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies convention and their respective authors/presenters.
