Alison Walsh

Graduate Student Undergraduate Program and Grass Scholars Coordinator

Alison joined the Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere in fall of 2023. As the Undergraduate Program Coordinator, she oversees Alexander Grass Scholars, a funded undergraduate research program that emphasizes academic inquiry in the humanities, experiential learning through community partnerships, and interdisciplinary research methods. She also coordinates Humanities Engagement Scholars, recognizing students who engage with the humanities through coursework and hands-on involvement in events at UF, in Gainesville, and beyond. Both programs are open to students of all majors.

Alison is a graduate candidate pursuing a PhD in English and a graduate certificate in Women’s Studies. Her research areas are film and new media, feminist theory, and contemporary American culture. As a graduate assistant, she has taught, coached, and assisted with undergraduate classes in the University Writing Program, UF Quest, and the Department of Gender, Sexuality & Women's Studies. Originally from North Carolina, she holds a BA in English and Creative Writing from Appalachian State University, as well as a Master of Library & Information Studies from UNC Greensboro. She had a career in university administration at UNC Charlotte before moving to Florida to pursue doctoral studies.
