Latinx Musical Spaces: Rap Seminar

Roberto Santos is the owner of Rap Seminar, a lyrical analysis company. In this event, Roberto will discuss the various techniques he relies on to examine songs of the rap genre. Roberto will use songs and samples from artists like Bad Bunny to showcase their rhyme patterns, their literary skills, and other lyrical components of their songs.

Meet the Speaker

Santos

Roberto Santos, MFA, is a father, husband, and lifelong Hip Hop practitioner. Santos is a creative writing educator who co-founded the Barbed Wire Open Mic Series, and is the founder of Rap Seminar – a lyrical analysis service and emcee development platform.

Dr. Laura Gonzales is an Assistant Professor of Digital Writing and Cultural Rhetorics in the Department of English at the University of Florida. Her research intersects conversations on translation, community engagement, and technology design. She is the author of Sites of Translation: What Multilinguals can Teach us about Digital Writing and Rhetoric (University of Michigan Press, 2018) and Designing Multilingual Experiences in Technical Communication (forthcoming by Utah State University Press).
