Splendorous Adornment: Chimú Featherwork and What It Tells Us About Chimú Society This project seeks to complete my dissertation on Chimú featherwork by conducting essential research in key European museums. Many Chimú feathered objects entered European collections through colonial acquisitions and private collecting, yet they remain understudied. Visiting institutions such as the Museo de Americá (Madrid), Museum für Vökerkunde (Vienna), and Staatliche Museen zu Berlin will allow for firsthand analysis, detailed documentation, and comparative study of these artifacts. This research will enhance my comprehensive database, providing critical insights into the production, use, and significance of Chimú featherwork, ultimately contributing to a broader understanding of Chimú sociopolical power and Andean visual culture.
