Between Solidarity and Surveillance: Cuban-East German Transnational Relations, 1959-1990 My dissertation project with the title “Between Solidarity and Surveillance: Cuban-East German Transnational Relations, 1959- 1990,” seeks to contribute to the growing literature shifting the perspective on Cold War relations from the center around the United States and/or the Soviet Union towards the periphery and encourage the analysis of lesser-known, yet equally essential alliances between states with common values.
